Easy to replace. Not inexpensive but worth the price. Instructions online for resetting the usage indicator. I bought this to remove smoke pollution from the air if we had fires nearby again, but we have not had any since I bought this system so I cannot attest to its effectiveness with smoke. It is nearly silent and can be controlled from your phone.

The filter comes in a rectangular box, folded. It requires the user to disassemble the 211i MAX purifier to remove the old filter; it is pretty easy but you can watch how to do it in the app. The app will tell the user when the filter life is getting low and I was promoted at 5% to replace it. Installation is easy and the entire prefilter and top mount insert go together without difficulty. If you haven’t done so in a while, I would recommend washing the pre-filter before reassembling the unit. After installation, plug in the machine and wait for it to initialize. Note that you have to press the fan speed button for 15 seconds, wait for the LED’s to flicker twice, to reset the filter life; the app is remiss in that it does not have a reset function. You should have 99-100% filter life after this is done. Incidentally, with 24/7 use (16 hours at AUTO and 8 hours at “Night” setting), my original filter lasted exactly one year.

I bought a bunch of these expensive Blue air filters. I got a red light, which is bad, and not a blue light which is good, after a few months of use. I changed the filter, but the particle count was still high, in the 60’s, not the 10’s, still, so I took off the pre-filter, which is so easy to do, washed it, with Dawn water, rinsed it, and patted it dry with paper towels. I put it back over the machine, and started the fan on high to dry it. After half an hour, the particle count was back to the 10’s. and the light in front turned blue, which is good. It’s been good all week.

Very Noisy on high. Doesn’t seem to work on cigarette smoke that rarely comes in from neighbors. Filter change warning doesn’t reflect actual condition of filter, seem to be based on hours on. Windows are closed here mostly, unit is in low use small bedroom, no pets or kids running around, no smoking.
