Didn't try it. Just opened the box and saw the gigantic machine and returned it. It's way too huge. I bought it to save some counter/floor space, which defects the purpose. Keeping the old BlueAir air purifier which I love. Comparing the regular, old BlueAir air purifier with this machine in the attached photos.

I’ve been rocking this air purifier for above six months now and have noticed a pretty significant improvement in the air quality of my townhome. I have it placed in the living room-kitchen combination area where there’s lot of foot traffic, as well as a husky that also resides with us. The overall build quality could be a little better but I can’t really complain about that though, since it runs really quiet even at maximum speeds, filters and cleans a considerable amount of pathogens, pet hair, and other tiny little micro bois. It’s definitely on the more expensive side but it’s worth it. I previously owned a Levoit purifier of a similar size and specification, but this BlueAir one has outlasted it. Definitely worth it

My daughter has gone from taking Zyrtec daily to not taking it anymore. Her allergies have been pretty much eliminated thanks to this air purifier. Living in San Antonio where the seasonal allergies are awful, that is saying a lot! Also, I like how is sucks air in from each side and shoots clean air up into the room creating a cooling effect. Well rounded and definitely lived up to the hype. That is usually not my experience with trusting ratings on blueairoutlet.com.

My husband thought this thing was useless until he saw the "before" and "after". I'll let the picture speak for itself

Quick-ish back story: I've always suffered seasonal allergies and been mildly allergic to dogs and cats. Three years ago we bought our first home and while it is in an inner-ring suburb, our home is atop a hill and surrounded by just enough nature to hide the fact that you are actually close to downtown. The previous owner had dogs, though the house didn't smell doggy nor was covered in hair, but none the less. I shampooed all the rugs when the house was empty and was pretty fine allergy-wise when we moved in. However, all the allergens in the air from nature really messed me up when we'd open the windows up, this past year in particular. I was so miserable and had FDR eyes (dark circles under my eyes) along with lots of eye boogers I'd never had. So I started vacuuming more and got a little air filter for the bedroom. Then this fall my wife started talking about getting a dog again and I'd been so miserable with allergies from the summer and fall I figured "How could hell be any worse?" and we got a beautiful Bordoodle in November. In preparation for the pup's arrival I decided to invest in a real deal air purifier. This arrived about 3 weeks before the puppy did and in that time I noticed a marked improvement in how I was feeling and my eyes and nose cleared up quite a bit. With that said: I love this thing! While I was worried about dropping so much coin for the actual machine and then the continued cost of new filters (which are about $100!) I was really hoping it would help me, and it did! Unfortunately when the machine arrived the expensive filter was all messed up! I contacted blueairoutlet.com and they gave me credit to buy a new one. Just for the heck of it, I ran the machine with the less than optimal, damaged filter those first few weeks. So this thing performed in less than perfect conditions and STILL made a difference! Once our pup came home I put in the new filter and things got even better! While I am not "cured" I sure feel a lot better, better than I did BEFORE we got the machine OR a dog that I was slightly allergic to (after the first few weeks, I got used to our dog's brand of proteins that trigger my allergies and am fine around her now) I highly encourage the use of the washable pre-filters. The machine looks way nicer without them (in my wife's opinion) but they catch SO MUCH big dust that I can only imagine it keeps your super expensive filter running optimally for as long as designed. We usually change out the pre-filter every 2 weeks and are offended by how much dust it catches, but also glad it is going there as opposed to our furniture and noses. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and feel the money was wisely spent as I feel much better since introducing this machine into my already pretty clean home.

Based on the amount of dust that my home gets in just a few days, I always wondered if that is one of the reasons one would get sick or maybe just congested. For peace of mind plus thoughts of unknown air toxins, I purchased this air purifier. So far, I only once saw the gauge hit 2% and that was while I was using a blow dryer near it as I dried my hair. Other than that, it remains on 0% whenever I glance at it. It is located right next to my bedroom door, so I glance at it multiple times a day. Outside my bedroom door is a hallway with 3 other bedrooms plus a bathroom and a flight of stairs going to the lower level. This air purifier seems to be doing its job on the top floor of my home. The filter is also hanging on to 80% and I've had it for 3 months. If I calculate this correctly, I might have to change the filter 1 time a year; give or take! I also like that it has a low volume hum which is not annoying and actually is comforting when going to sleep! It is a good buy and I do recommend it, for at the least, giving you peace of mind! Update: 5 months later...2 things occurred since purchase... 1. Somehow, I couldn't re-establish the wifi, but eventually, I figured it out and reconnected. 2. This one is the most important....I was downstairs cooking short ribs for a large family gathering. Haven't used my oven for a while and I opened it to check the ribs and a medium puff of smoke came out from cheese at the bottom of the oven that was slowly burning. I didn't think anything of it, until a 1/2 hour later when I went upstairs for something, the Blueair was churning at a much higher number then the normal 0%!! I thought there was something wrong with it! Then realized, the smoke had traveled from one corner of the house to the total opposite side going up the stairs and into my bedroom. It was not visual, but apparently the Blueair could "see" it and it was churning away until the area was purified, once again! Even our smoke alarms didn't go off, so it was really a minimal amount of smoke, but Me and Hubby were really impressed! Recommend this to anybody and everybody!!

5th month filters changed first time. Clearly they did a good job, dirtier one was in main living area, less dirty in the bedroom. Always on, it's easy to change out the cloth pre-filter for washing. I've had several filters and these work well!

I’ve had other BlueAir products in the past so when they came out with a humidifier I was excited to try it. The setup was a breeze and I find the app well designed. The auto function has been great about turning on when the humidity is too low. My biggest complaint is removing the water tank and putting it back. It’s taken me a good 10 mins each time trying to get everything back tomorrow how it wants it. It’s not well designed. Luckily you can fill it from the top without removing the base. Another thing that has not worked for is the welcome home feature inside the app. Supposedly it will turn off and turn back on when you leave. It’s reliably turned off for me but has never turned back on.

I put the air filter next to my cat’s litter box, and it makes a big difference in reducing both dust from the litter and smells. The proof is in the before-and-after picture from my latest filter replacement.

First off, let me preface this review by saying that I’ve had three fifteen year-old 3M air purifiers that still function perfectly. I really wanted to like the Blueair air purifier; it was ranked #1 by consumer reports, and had great reviews elsewhere online. For the first couple weeks, all was well, and I was happy with the unit. Unfortunately…..it slowly developed a noise, faint at first, but grew louder and louder over the next week. “Da-da….da-da…..da-da”, over and over and over, indefinitely. Incredibly, incredibly annoying, especially when one is trying to sleep. As having worked in engineering and as an IT manager, I knew what the noise was; the bearings in the fan were going bad AFTER JUST TWO WEEKS. This is completely outrageous for an $650 air purifier, essentially consisting of no more than a fan surrounded by some metal and filters. I figured maybe it was just a case of “infant mortality”, as in maybe there was a rare manufacturing defect leading to this problem. I called blueairoutlet.com, jumped through hoops for 45 minutes, eventually getting them to send a replacement, which was to arrive in a few days, or so I thought. Weeks go by, and finally the blueairoutlet.com status page updates with “lost in transit”. Face-palm. So I call blueairoutlet.com again, jump through more hoops, and get them to send out a replacement, again. Replacement arrives in a few days. Finally. Open the box, there’s a couple pieces of slightly bent steel, which I was willing to put up with given the amount of time I’ve already invested in this debacle. Plug it in, and it makes A CONTINUOUS WHIRRING SOUND on the second speed, even more annoying than the first unit. Whhr….whrrr…whrrr…whrrr…whrrr….indefinitely. Fan bearings, again. I can’t begin to imagine what kind of half-arsed quality control Blueair has got going on, but this is absolutely insane. And to top it off, blueairoutlet.com won’t send another replacement, because the max is two replacements, and they count the unit that was lost in transit as 1/2 replacements. This has been the worst purchase I’ve ever made in three decades. Absolute garbage, especially considering the outlandish price. DO NOT BUY THIS TRASH.

I really wanted to like this product because I was tired of buying distilled water in bulk every other week. At first it was great - easy to fill, easy to clean. But despite cleaning the filter and tank every week per the instructions, the filter ends up getting moldy and disgusting. I have three units and none of the filters lasted more than a couple months before succumbing to serious mold infestation.

Poor quality enclosure. You have a chance to get one with booming side panels. My 3-year-old 503 developed annoying booming sound. The cause was panel resonance, not worn out motor. My Pro L, directly from Blueair USA, had booming sound due to panel resonance on one side since new. After a year, both side panels make booming sounds. I attached sorbothane pads to the panels with magnets to reduce panel resonances. An air cleaner at this price should have better enclosure damping and good quality control in the factory.

Did my homework on the leading review “company”. They rank it very high. They were right!!! Love it. Features i use: silent mode, dim the lights (or use it as a night light), also acts as a white noise!!! I like it so much I bought a second one for my second home! Feature I turned off - WiFi. Do I really need everything in the house accessible by phone??

This is the second BlueAir air purifier I've purchased, and I absolutely love them. I use this one in my living/dining room, and I have it normally set on auto. It is whisper quiet when the air is clean, and still fairly quiet on the next level, only getting loud but still not unbearable on the highest setting when it is cleaning the air. I have a small kitchen so anytime we cook anything the smell inevitably fills the dining and living room. This air purifier then immediately kicks into high gear and within an hour cleans the air. Very efficient in that regard. It also does an excellent job of reducing dust, as much less dust accumulates on my furniture now. While I can say for a fact if that will help with allergy relief since fortunately I don't suffer from it, I assume less dust helps. While the air purifier is very light weight, it still feels very durable. It also looks great anywhere in the room, seamlessly blending into surrounding furniture unlike other air purifiers, and isn't too big or too small so can really fit anywhere. I'll definitely be purchasing more purifiers from this company for other rooms.

PINK! Everything pink always, amiright ladies! This makes my air purifier cute and perfect. CAUTION: I haven't had to take it off, but I'll heed the warning of others and do so carefully and gently. Others have mentioned it rips easily and the velcro is stronger than the fabric. I've wiped it off with a damp paper towel to remove pet hair. I wouldn't recommend machine washing, but it's pretty simple to clean. But $12 for pink fabric? A little steep. I wish it was an option to buy it with the pink installed because unless this rips, I'll never use the other color. Quite a waste.
